The most notable achievement for the British School of Ulaanbaatar this year has been securing Accreditation and Compliance with the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). The BSU was awarded two certificates, one for 'Compliance', meaning that it meets all the standards for a British International School and a second for ‘Patron's Accreditation Member Status', meaning that it experienced rigorous scrutiny and was shown to meet high standards delivering the best British and international practice possible.
Our school was one of the first to achieve Patron’s Accreditation Member status, that recognises the outstanding quality of education provided by the school. BSU was congratulated on the safe and supportive environment it provides for all young people as well as the British ethos and internationalism it promotes. These qualities were described as examples of Global Best Practice by a team of four inspectors from the UK, Bruni, Lithuania and Russia who looked at every aspect of the schools operations and most importantly standards of teaching and learning.
The character of the report elevated the status of our school to one of only six in the world that enjoyed the exclusive level of external accreditation.
Our recruitment procedures were scrutinised as part of the process. COBIS verified that all our teachers hold University Degrees and the relevant qualifications that enable them to teach, either in the UK or schools across the globe. They also verified that our safeguarding procedures meet the highest standards one could hope to find in any international school.
